Make Learning More Meaningful

When a child knows that a pen is for writing, she holds it and draws anything with the pen.

May be the things she draw does not have any meaning to us all but what she tries to do is something sincere.

She tries to create something of her own.

But it is only her lack of hand and eye coordination which makes her fail.

But as she gets older she learns the trick of writing.
I am amused at how we tend to learn things without any instruction from the very beginning of our life. But education is something totally different.
In our childhood we are instructed on how to read certain drawings like A, B, C and 1, 2, 3 etc.

and how we should pronounce it.
Then comes a stage when we are into doing complex things.

We are told this is the right way to do it and that is the wrong way to do that.

And we feel like "Who the hell are these guys to decide what is right and what is not?" What I feel is that we need to be practical in approaching education.
As in our childhood we learn by ourselves through mistakes in later years we too should be given the chance to learn by ourselves.
How many theories did Einstein, Newton or Aryabhatta founded? And how many of them do we apply in life? These theories are good for increasing general knowledge but beyond that point it is useless to know these things.

We have to learn what, how, when, why of things thousands of guys discovered or invented during their lifetime in a year.

After that we have to write an exam for 2/3 hours and the examiners check the papers in 5 minutes or so. But the most intriguing fact is that the examiners decide marks/grade within a second. I say it is time to change the education system.

There should be no marking or grading system.

If someone wants to study let him study but without any marking system. It has been the root cause of all the problems related to education.
(Recently a girl with 90+ % of marks in CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) could not get through to a college of her like in Delhi University).
I wonder whether she would be demoralized or motivated to work harder.
