What Are We Teaching Our Kids?
Today's children watch an average of three to four hours of television daily.
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that children should watch no more than two hours of television a day.
Even with the two hour limit, it has been estimated that they will have witnessed 8,000 murders and more than 100,000 other acts of violence by the time they finish elementary school. What should a parent do in the middle of this immeasurable onslaught of negative influence in their children's life? The most important thing that a parent can do is to ensure that their are positive influences offering wisdom and truth into the life of their child.
Your local church's Children's Ministry is an amazing place to look for aid and partnership in these trying times.
Parents are looking to provide their children help as well as answers to assuage their needs. In our culture your children are daily pummeled with these negative influences and they have a truly immense need for some individuals to step in and provide them with the help they need.
Here are a few specific ways that your local Children's Ministry can help. They can create an atmosphere where parents are able to introduce their child to Christ, which will also provide a foundation for the parents to be the primary Spiritual Leader in their child's life.
Your local Children's Ministry is able to provide parents with resources they can introduce and practice with their child at home.
While providing tools for them to use to counteract the influence of our culture.
A Children's Ministry can help to encourage parents to limit the time their children spend watching television, and give guidance on choosing shows that offer positive examples of caring, helping and being considerate. Parents should be kept aware of all the different media platforms that are currently influencing their children.
As leaders in today's Children's Ministry we can we have a significant positive influence on the lives of these families and their children.
